Baptist Shopping Plaza
Overview
Baptist Shopping Plaza is a commercial redevelopment for the Bahamas National Baptist Missionary & Educational Convention on Baillou Hill Road. The project maximizes the value of the Convention's property by pairing its administration center with eight commercial rental spaces — including the 'PAGES' bookstore and 'HE-BREWS' coffee shop — generating revenue while serving the community.
Program
- —Eight commercial rental units (400–800 ft²)
- —Administration center with offices and conference room
- —Reception and waiting room
- —PAGES bookstore and HE-BREWS coffee shop
- —Shaded colonnade walkway
- —New parking and landscaping
Design Intent
A sober, dignified design suited to its religious owner, the plaza arranges single-storey retail bays beneath white metal roofs around a shaded colonnaded walkway with café seating and planting. Light scoops draw daylight into the units, a gabled administration building anchors the composition, and new parking and landscaping organize a welcoming, easy-to-navigate arrival.
