Belle Mer
Overview
Belle Mer is a private beachfront residence on Silver Beach, Great Exuma, conceived as a stress-free winter respite from the owners' snowbound home in Colorado. TAS Architecture organized the home around an open central great room flanked by two master-bedroom wings, with a large loft bunk room for the family's younger members and a four-bedroom guest cottage — all oriented to maximize views of the turquoise water and offshore reef.

Design Intent
Crisp white-and-pastel volumes with hipped roofs and deep verandas open the home fully to the beach, while a generous ocean-side terrace frames swimming, snorkeling, and reef activity just offshore. Inside, light timber ceilings, breezy neutral interiors, and walls of glazing keep the living, dining, and bedroom spaces calm and connected to the sea, with xeriscaped gardens and sun terraces completing the relaxed coastal setting.
